Hollywood Studio Club Press Release
March 13, 2020
Actresses who are members of The Wing, a women’s co-working space, are invited to join the Hollywood Studio Club, a group designed to promote community over competition. New York City actresses Alison Chace, Kate Robards, and Lucie Fleming are launching the Hollywood Studio Club, which will meet at The Wing on the first Thursday of every month at 6PM.
Inspired by Hollywood A-listers like Mindy Kaling, Kerry Washington, and Reese Witherspoon, who work to support and empower other women, these three actresses aim to create an inspiration circle where women can uplift one another. The Hollywood Studio Club’s format, taking a cue from feminist guru Mama Gena, includes brags, desires, and asks.
What is not allowed at the club? Complaining, negative self-talk or comments about members, or lamenting how hard the business is. What is celebrated? A spirit of light-heartedness, positivity, joy, and love.
The Hollywood Studio Club will serve as a way to take control and create rather than waiting for others to decide an actress’ career. Upcoming projects will include a storytelling evening, creating a documentary and short film, and sharing insider tips. Through the group, actresses will network, swap leads and contacts, and build each other up.
Chace, Robards, and Fleming decided to leverage the existing infrastructure of The Wing, which draws together powerhouse women who want to get things done. The founders feel their club will fit right in with The Wing’s ethos of camaraderie.
The idea for the club stems from the original Hollywood Studio Club, a California residence housing women working or aspiring to work in movies from 1915 to 1975. This new iteration of the former haven for thousands of women, including Rita Moreno and Marilyn Monroe, also draws on ideas Chace has promoted through Pink Wisdom, her company which brings together female thought leaders to share career and relationship advice.
